When we begin design work with our brides, we start by focusing on words. How do they want the day to look? How do they want it to feel? Using words like Romantic, Intimate, Classic, Modern, Timeless, and others help us to identify the perfect combination for them. For this design, we were looking to create something that was romantic, garden inspired, yet totally classic. Often when we think of classic, black and white comes to mind. But how do you create something that is both classic and romantic? Incorporating lush florals, old world details, and luxe textures to a classic color palette of black and gold creates just the perfect mix. The overall look ends up feeling both classic and romantic, which in turn allows the design to feel fresh and new.

Among our favorite details were the luxe gold foil paper goods designed by Ink & Press Co. Focusing on a soft, timeless palette with added gold elements, Mikyla designed a paper suite that perfectly fit the classic and romantic nature of the shoot. We took these soft pastel tones and used them as our inspiration for the florals, creating a lush, garden inspired look. These paired perfectly with the velvet black linens and classic tableware.

Black and Pink doesn’t have to look like a dated Parisian design. It can be elegant, fresh, and new! Always consider the words you select when describing how you want your event to feel. This will anchor your design and help you to create the perfect representation and feeling in your event.
