Destination Elopement

How to Plan a Destination Elopement in 5 Easy Steps

  1. Determine the rules of your location. Are you legally able to get married there? If not, consider handling the logistics before or after. While you are in the location, have an officiant or close friend or family member perform a symbolic marriage. If it is legal, determine what information is needed to obtain a marriage license. Many locations require translated documents with apostle stamps. Be sure to fully understand the requirements!
  2. Plan for the details! While you may not be pulling out all the stops for your elopement, consider the details you would want. A bouquet is a perfect and reasonable addition for a destination elopement!
  3. Figure out your wardrobe! Just because you are eloping doesn’t mean you can’t wear an amazing dress! Determine if you want to wear a long or short dress and what you’d like you significant other in and go from there. This is your chance to be bold with your fashion – we say go for it!
  4. Consider those who won’t be there. If you have a large group of family or friends who won’t be there, consider ways you can include them. Sending out invitations or announcements is a great way to do this.
  5. Hire a photographer to capture the day! Even if it is just the two of you, these are memories you will want to have forevermore.
